After 18 years, Eckerd College will be welcoming its fifth president to campus. Damian Fernandez will be the St. Petersburg college’s newest president beginning July 1, 2020. In February of this year, Donald R. Eastman III announced he would be retiring after 18 years. …The University of Lynchburg named Alison Morrison-Shetlar as its 11th president Monday morning in Hall Campus Center making her the first woman president of the 116-year-old school. Her term will begin in July 2020 after the retirement of Kenneth R. Garren, who has served as president since 2001. His contract expires at the end of June 2020. …The Boston Architectural College’s Board of Trustees has named Mahesh Daas, as the College’s eighth president, effective July 12, 2019. He will succeed Glen LeRoy, who announced he would be retiring at the end of this academic year. …The Board of Regents today named Georj Lewis president of Atlanta Metropolitan State College (AMSC). Lewis has been serving as interim president of AMSC since July 1, 2019. …University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB) President Jay A. Perman has been named the next chancellor of the University System of Maryland (USM) by the USM Board of Regents. Perman will become the fifth chancellor of the USM when he succeeds Robert L. Caret, who has previously announced he will leave the position by the end of his contract. …Paul Conn, president of Lee University, has announced his intention to leave his position in the summer of 2020. …Longtime Southwestern Christian College (SwCC) President-Emeritus Jack Evans Sr. died on November 1, the university and family announced. He was 81. Evans served as the president of SwCC for nearly 50 years, making him the longest serving college president in America, according to the college. …A former Ferris State University president is being remembered for his dedication to education. Robert Ewigleben, who served as president from 1971 to 1984, died on Sunday, Nov. 3, at age 91. Ferris State University President David Eisler said Ewigleben had a “clever, inventive mind” and a passion for the “educational process.”
