Five candidates have their eyes on the Dallas College board at a time when the state has raised the stakes in how it funds community colleges.

Whoever is elected onto the two board seats up for grabs will work with Chancellor Justin Lonon on managing one of the largest community college systems in Texas.

Its leaders are working to navigate a new community college funding model that ties state dollars to student outcomes, rebound from enrollment drops and convince North Texans on the value of a degree.
