The role of college leadership has significantly evolved in the age of artificial intelligence (AI). With AI transforming various sectors, higher education is no exception. Colleges can no longer afford to ignore AI and the Fourth Industrial Revolution because these technologies are becoming increasingly prevalent in the employment sector.
Employers widely use AI to enhance efficiency, boost productivity and improve customer satisfaction, making it essential for future employees. Failing to integrate AI into the college curriculum would be a disservice to students, leaving them unprepared for the demands of the modern workforce. Research shows that many industries have rapidly adopted AI technologies, and educational institutions must keep pace to remain relevant in the labor market.
AI plays a vital role in three main areas in college settings: offering academic programs, such as certificate or associate of applied science (AAS) degrees to train students in AI skills, using AI to enhance teaching and learning experiences across the curriculum, and integrating AI into college operations to improve the overall student experience from admission to graduation.
