Community college advising content, intensity impact engagement and success

Half of community college students report transferring as a goal but have never taken advantage of transfer advising, says a 2018 national report by the Center for Community College Student Engagement.

Returning learners, however, are more likely to seek advice, with 78 percent saying they met with an advisor. Additionally, more student athletes have met with an advisor two or more times than non-athletes.

The Center for Community College Students surveyed more than 90,000 returning students at 188 institutions and nearly 40,000 first-time students at 94 institutions.
