Christopher Newport University and Tidewater Community College partner to help transfer students

The presidents of Christopher Newport University and Tidewater Community College on Tuesday signed an agreement that will make it easier for community college students to transfer to CNU for a four-year degree.

The partnership guarantees TCC students’ admission to CNU once they have earned at least 16 credits at TCC with at least a 2.5 GPA. It will also facilitate a CNU grant program for TCC transfer students who have demonstrated financial need, conditional on available funding.

Other perks of the program include waived application fees when students are ready to apply or reapply to CNU, increased advising services to support preparation and transition, early access to events and support services and early access to CNU’s on-campus events. The program also provides resources such as transfer visits and tours as well as writing, career, financial literacy and student success workshops.
