Launching students: SUNY to spend $14.5 million on paid internships

The state university system is now budgeting millions of dollars every year to pay for students to get real-life job experience.

The annual budget is $14.5 million, which will employ at least 3,500 students in internships related to their major. The money is open to students at state-operated, four-year institutions, not community colleges.

About 210,000 students are working toward a degree at a four-year SUNY institution.
