Iowa State is partnering with EdR and River Caddis Development (Memphis) to add 320,000 square feet of student residential and mixed-use retail space to the southwest corner of campus.

The new six-story, $52 million facility will feature 157 apartments, varying from studios to four-bedrooms units, as well as study rooms, a club room, a fitness center and a pool. Retail shops and a 20-room hotel will be located on the ground level.

Opus Design Build LLC (Des Moines) is the design-builder while Opus AE Group LLC (Des Moines) serves as the architect and structural engineer. Completion is slated for August 2018.

College of Visual Arts & Design

University of North Texas

A four-story, 128,354-square-foot addition to campus will house the College of Visual Arts & Design.

In addition to extra classrooms, the new facility adds lecture halls, 3D graphics and visualization labs, study areas, seminar rooms, multimedia-equipped rooms, art galleries, student studios, administrative offices, meeting spaces, and informal work areas.

The high-performance, energy-efficient facility will target LEED Silver certification. Corgan (Dallas) and Machado-Silvetti (Boston) have partnered on design, while AECOM Hunt (Dallas) is handling construction. The $70 million project has a fall 2018 completion target.

Health Sciences Building

University of Cincinnati

The institution’s College of Allied Health Sciences is getting a new $61 million facility, the most recent phase of a $480 million Medical Campus Master Plan. The four-story, 117,000-square-foot building will include 56 classrooms, plus laboratories, offices and spaces for multidisciplinary research.

A central atrium will provide natural light while a 1.5-acre green space in front of the completed building will form a natural entranceway to the Kettering Lab Complex. Perkins+Will (Chicago) serves as architect and Messer Construction Co. (Cincinnati) is managing construction. A February 2019 opening is scheduled.
