In a CBS News report, a correspondent interviewed four college students about their reactions to President Donald Trump’s State of the Union address and its potential impact on the upcoming midterm elections.

All four students said the last election was the first in which they were eligible to vote and noted they are still forming their political views. Despite coming from different ideological backgrounds and acknowledging they had voted for different candidates, the students engaged in what they described as respectful, civil discussion throughout the night. They also said political differences have strained some of their friendships, underscoring the broader tensions surrounding national politics.
