University of Alabama School of Leadership and Policy is first new division in decades

New University of Alabama schools and colleges aren’t established every day, or even every decade.

The upcoming School of Leadership and Policy, announced Nov. 7 after a UA System board of trustees’ vote, will be the first new UA school in 60 years, though colleges have been named, and evolved from earlier disciplines, more recently than that.

The UA Honors College was formally established in 2003, but it grew from roots in the 1968-birthed Computer-Based Honors Program.
