The campus of Oakland University was quieter than expected on the first day of fall classes Thursday after the faculty was unable to reach a labor contract with the university and went on strike.
Cornel West, one of the nation's foremost Black scholars and an outspoken progressive activist, has announced his resignation from Harvard University, accusing the school of "intellectual and spiritual bankruptcy of deep depths."
“If you are a parent of a high school senior who’s thinking of sending their son or daughter to one of these universities and you hear they could be dissolved next year, what does that do to enrollment,” said Jamie Martin, the president of the state system’s faculty union.
