Which colleges and universities are producing the most Fulbright award winners?

"These experiences are not only personally and professionally rewarding, but also make lasting impacts through the relationships faculty build in their host country," said Deborah Viles, director of the Office of Top Scholarships at CU Boulder.

The U.S. State Department’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs released the full tally of college and university’s Fulbright award winners last week, allowing the public to take a peek into which schools produced the most.

The Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program is the flagship international educational exchange program in the U.S. Initially intended to bridge the gap in world affairs by its architect, United States Senator J. William Fulbright, the program has provided over 400,000 students and scholars with the opportunity to study, teach, and conduct research abroad.

“Fulbright’s 2023-24 Top Producing Institutions represent the diversity of America’s higher education community,” said Lee Satterfield, the Bureau’s assistant secretary of state. “Dedicated administrators, faculty, and advisors support students and scholars to fulfill their potential and rise to address tomorrow’s global challenges through the Fulbright Program.”

Colleges and universities churning out a high rate of Fulbright scholarship winners also enjoy the opportunity of connecting their institution to the network of countries abroad. Building strong connections with other countries is vital for an enrollment space that increasingly relies on international students.

“These experiences are not only personally and professionally rewarding, but also make lasting impacts through the relationships faculty build in their host country,” said Deborah Viles, director of the Office of Top Scholarships at CU Boulder, in a school statement.

The Fulbright program details its list in numerous categories, delineating top-producing institutions by Carnegie Classification, program type, and year. Listed below are those who had the highest number of Fulbrighters in the 2023-24 academic year.
