What college rankings don’t tell you

When I applied for college, I looked at the 25 top business programs and went down the list, one by one. At the time I believed the rankings were a good guide, especially since I had no idea where I wanted to go. Fast forward to my last year at college, when I realized what a mistake I had made. My university really wasn’t made for someone like me. As a creative type, it is daunting to make it through a quantitative program that emphasizes science, programming and math. I later learned that most peer institutions were the opposite—people-focused with an emphasis on qualitative courses that leave room for creative interpretation.
