Online education remains a key pathway for working adults, parents and military service members who need flexibility while earning a degree. The newly released 2026 Best Online Programs rankings from U.S. News & World Report highlight the year’s top schools for online learning.
The rankings evaluate nearly 1,850 online bachelor’s and master’s degree programs at regionally accredited colleges and universities. The goal is to help prospective students compare programs using data-driven measures tied to online learning quality and student outcomes.
“Online education continues to be a vital path for professionals, parents and service members seeking to advance their careers and broaden their knowledge with necessary flexibility,” said LaMont Jones, managing editor for education at U.S. News.
U.S. News ranked degree-granting online programs in these areas:
• Bachelor’s programs
• MBA programs
• Master’s programs in business (non-MBA), engineering, information technology, criminal justice, education and nursing
