Temple University outlines its promotion of diversity

In 2018, Temple University embarked on a registration goal of hiring a freshman class with no ethnic majority.

The university recently announced that about 45% of its 2025 classes will be non-white students. This is an increase from 31% just five years ago. The largest increase was in the number of Black and Hispanic freshmen.

This fall, Temple has 831 first-year Black students enrolled, an increase of 23% compared to last year’s grade. Hispanic students also increased college enrollment with 458 students in the 2025 class, 4% more than in 2020, when the overall enrollment declined due to the pandemic.
