The Department of Education began releasing $36 billion in American Rescue Plan funds to colleges and universities on Tuesdays.

Campus administrators can use the money to support the most vulnerable students with various expenses and to prevent the spread of COVID on campus.

The number of Pell Grant recipients at a college or university determines how much relief funding the institution receives.
