Rice University is expanding its financial aid program, making free tuition available to more students starting in fall 2027.
Under the expanded “Rice Investment” program, students from families earning up to $200,000 per year will qualify for free tuition, the university announced this week. Students from families earning less than $100,000 annually will also receive support for mandatory fees, room and board. In addition, the private university in Houston said it will “continue to meet 100% of demonstrated financial need for all families without requiring student loans.”
The university says the expansion is designed to make a Rice education more accessible by reducing financial barriers for families. It’s also part of a strategic plan to increase enrollment by nearly 30% by 2028.
