The priority candidate for the University of Nebraska system president position, Walter “Ted” Carter Jr., spoke to students, faculty, staff and members of the public at a press conference after the Board of Regents announced his candidacy. He is a retired vice admiral in the U.S. Navy and has served as superintendent of the U.S. Naval Academy for six years.
