People Watch: Katherine Lasher to head up Ohio State’s new Office of Institutional Equity

Katherine M. Lasher will lead The Ohio State University’s new Office of Institutional Equity, which manages compliance with Title IX, the Americans with Disabilities Act, and other laws and policies. As associate vice president and reporting to the provost, Lasher will oversee response to harassment incidents. Her role begins in August.

Lasher currently serves in the Office of Civil Rights and Institutional Equity at Central Michigan University. She is also the university’s Title IX coordinator and affirmative action officer. Lasher developed the university’s first comprehensive sexual misconduct policy, as well as a first-year student initiative covering healthy relationships, consent and bystander intervention.

  • Mitzi Montoya will become provost and executive vice president of Washington State University in August. She is currently the business school dean at Oregon State and is operations and executive dean of the business and engineering division at OSU Portland. 
  • Scott Green, global chief operating and financial officer of the Hogan Lovells law firm, will lead the University of Idaho as of July.
  • University of North Dakota President Mark Kennedy will head the University of Colorado beginning in July.
