People Watch: Brian McGee to take the helm at Quincy University
Brian McGee will lead Quincy University (Ill.), as its 24th president, starting July 1. He is now provost and executive vice president for academic affairs at the College of Charleston (S.C.), where he expanded services for at-risk students and created programs for veterans and active-duty military personnel.
McGee also launched a program that allows more community college students to transfer to Charleston and founded a center that streamlines transfer processes. And all students will have access to 15 academic programs developed by McGee. Additionally, he was Charleston’s chief of staff and senior vice president of executive administration.

- Sarah Swager, formerly the interim vice president for student affairs at Carlow University (Pa.), now serves as vice provost for student success at the University of Montana.
- On July 1, Joan Gabel will become president of the University of Minnesota. Gabel was previously executive vice president for academic affairs and provost of the University of South Carolina.
- University of Wisconsin-Madison Provost Sarah Mangelsdorf will head the University of Rochester (N.Y.) beginning this summer.
