Oregon’s community colleges generate billions for the economy, report says

Oregon’s 17 community colleges generated more than $9 billion in annual economic impact for the state in the 2021-2022 fiscal year, according to a report released last week by the Oregon Community College Association.

The analysis, conducted by labor market analytics firm Lightcast and paid for by the colleges, looked at a variety of ways the colleges infuse money into the state’s economy.

The analysis found that one out of every 22 jobs in the state is supported by the activities of the community colleges and their students.
