Ohio college presidents support enhanced anti-hazing legislation

The fear of losing a student doesn’t just haunt college presidents as higher education leaders, Kent State University President Todd Diacon said.

“Many of us are parents,” Diacon said. “We don’t want to get that call at 3 a.m. We don’t want anyone else to receive that call at 3 a.m.”

As a result, he said, he and the other leaders of Ohio’s public colleges and universities told Gov. Mike DeWine in a call that they support legislation to strengthen Ohio’s current anti-hazing laws following the hazing death of a Bowling Green State University student this weekend.
