Michael H. Schill takes the helm at the University of Oregon

Mike Williams named president of Faulkner University after 28 years at Harding University

Michael H. Schill took the helm at the University of Oregon on July 1 as its 18th president. He is the former dean and professor at The University of Chicago Law School.

Prior to joining UChicago in 2010, Schill served as dean of UCLA’s School of Law. An expert in property, real estate and housing law and policy, Schill is the author or co-author of three books and more than 40 scholarly articles.

His studies have included condominium and cooperative housing values, the impacts of housing programs on property values, fair housing laws enforcement, and housing market deregulation. Besides being the university’s president, Schill will hold a tenured faculty position in the School of Law. Schill replaced Michael Gottfredson, who resigned last August after two years as president.

  • In June, Mike Williams became the eighth president of Faulkner University (Ala.). He spent 28 years at Harding University (Ark.), most recently as VP of advancement. Williams is succeeding Billy Hilyer, who is now Faulkner’s chancellor after 29 years as president.
  • North Carolina Central University has named Dean Ontario Wooden associate vice chancellor for innovative, engaged and global education in the Division of Academic Affairs. He will be responsible for several honors programs, the Academic Community Service Learning Program and the Summer Ventures in Science and Mathematics, among others.
  • Unity College (Maine) President Stephen Mulkey will retire in December, ending a four-year tenure at the institution.
