“We realized that every single problem that we have on a night out, everything that leads to us crying…everything that leads to us having a bad time stems from our phone,” Palazzolo explained in a viral TikTok from Dec. 14, 2022. The video racked up 18.2 million views.

Logan Lane was 15 when she first had the urge to throw her phone into a river. If it was feasible, she wish she could go without having any phone at all.

“I don’t think I’ll ever switch back to a smartphone,” says 20-year-old Charlie Fisher. He says having a smartphone was stopping him from regulating his emotions and contributing to procrastination.
