On a late spring evening last year, George T. French, president of Clark Atlanta University, got a telephone call that would change the course of thousands of college students in Atlanta.
A business partner in Alabama told him representatives from Apple Inc. (NYSE:APPL) wanted to talk. It was about a press release French just issued congratulating fellow Atlanta HBCUs Morehouse and Spelman after Netflix announced it was giving each college $40 million.
Even though Clark Atlanta did not receive the gift, French wanted to go on record in support of both schools.
Apple was impressed.
