Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science (Chicago)

The first building in what could be a multiphase development will generate an estimated 500 jobs and $117 million annually. Scientists and entrepreneurs will create new treatments for disease based on the university’s biomedical research.

Size: Six stories; 100,000 square feet

Features: Will accommodate up to 175 people, and will house laboratories, office spaces, biotech and health care firms, as well as centers for genetic diseases, cancer cell biology and molecular therapeutics

Anticipated cost: $53 million

Expected completion: Summer 2019

Brentwood Center

Los Medanos College (Calif.)

The relocated and expanded facility will enhance learning opportunities for students and county residents.

Size: One story; 55,000 square feet on 17.5 acres

Features: Will include instructional classrooms, science labs, student support services offices, library resources,
tutorial labs, bookstore, food service, offices and more than 700 parking spots.

Anticipated cost: $65 million

Expected completion: Spring 2020

SouthSide Commons

Lehigh University (Pa.)

These apartments will serve upper-level undergraduates, transfers, and graduate and international students.

Size: Four and five stories; 165,170 square feet total

Features: Studio, two-, three- and four-bedroom units with 428 beds in all, plus fitness center, study rooms, interior bike storage, outdoor recreational spaces, pet-friendly living, in-unit laundry and high-speed Wi-Fi

Anticipated cost: $48 million

Expected completion: Summer 2019
