Construction Watch: University of Montevallo breaks ground on college of business building

The Alabama institution’s new 10,000-square-foot facility will feature advanced tech and collaboration spaces

The University of Montevallo in Alabama has officially started construction on the 10,000-square-foot Michael E. Stephens College of Business building. It will feature advanced technology and a large student commons and event space to facilitate interactions among students, faculty and the business community. In other construction news:

Rice University in Houston has won a federal grant to help advance its plans to develop a building using mass timber, a type of engineered wood touted as being more environmentally friendly than concrete or other materials. Read more.
