Construction Watch: Northeast’s Technical Education Complex on track to open in January 2020

Officials at Tennessee’s Northeast State Community College report that the nearly $30 million Technical Education Complex is on schedule to open for student use in January 2020. The complex, which is the state’s largest community college building project to date, has risen from a groundbreaking in October to a topping out ceremony in April; its form taking shape in the skyline with other campus buildings and the adjacent Tri-Cities Airport. Drake University officials say that more than four acres of land on the east edge of the Des Moines, Iowa, campus will be sold or leased to a developer for a $63 million construction project, which will include apartments, town houses, commercial space and a parking garage. Read more.

Richmond Community College’s Board of Trustees held a specially called meeting to approve the new budget for the planned addition and renovations to main campus in Hamlet, North Carolina, and to approve a bid for the construction project. Read more.
