The board of trustees of Miami University has authorized a contract for a new $96 million health sciences building on the Oxford, Ohio, campus. The move will help meet growing demand for health care jobs, says Miami U President Greg Crawford. Read more.

Construction on Orange Coast College’s new Professional Mariner Training Center is now underway following a groundbreaking ceremony in Costa Mesa, California. For a time, Josep LluÁs Sert’s brawny buildings defined modern Boston. Sert (1902–1983) held the deanship at Harvard Graduate School of Design from 1953 to 1969 and also maintained an independent practice, Sert, Jackson & Associates. But his buildings have taken some getting used to, and many, including those on local higher ed campuses, have been recently upgraded. Read more.
