Construction Watch: Des Moines U pays $8.5M for new campus site

Building on the 88-acre site is expected to start next year and wrap up in 2023

Des Moines University in Iowa paid W&G McKinney Farms LLC nearly $8.5 million for 88 acres in West Des Moines where the medical school’s future campus will be located, according to land transaction records filed with Dallas County. Construction is expected to begin in 2020 and wrap up in 2023, when the university celebrates its 125th anniversary. Read more.

In other construction news:

In the wake of recent power outages that forced the College of Staten Island in New York to close the campus for extended periods of time, construction will soon begin on a new electrical substation that will replace the existing aging and outdated power system. Read more.
