The Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland, is just one of several college campuses across the country dealing with unspecified threats, moving those campuses into a heightened state of alert.

Alarms rang at the U.S. Naval Academy in Maryland, alerting the base to shelter in place.

A source telling NBC News a former midshipman—who’d been thrown out of the Academy—made an anonymous threat on social media from his home, but used an online address that made it look like the danger was coming from within the base.
