Since December 2023, all programs branch campuses, off campus sites, and distance education programs are under accreditation probation.
According to the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges, the Board of Trustees determined that the institution failed to demonstrate compliance with the Governing board characteristics and financial responsibility.
For two years, the school was being monitored due to financial deficiencies.
At the end of 2023, CBU had a $4 million budget cut that eliminated nearly 30 faculty members.
