By one critical measure, University of Michigan has surpassed Michigan State in enrollment

Michigan State University has long had bragging rights as the state’s largest university based on enrollment, but University of Michigan now has edged ahead by one critical measure.

In 2018-19, U-M had 47,831 full-time-equivalent students compared to 47,134 at MSU, according to the latest enrollment report by the Michigan Association of State Universities.
