A Virginia college suspends men’s basketball athletes for kneeling during National Anthem

Bluefield College has released a statement after men’s basketball student-athletes knelt during the national anthem at recent games.

President of the college, Dr. David Olive, says players were suspended for kneeling after being informed that there would consequences for doing so. The suspensions resulted in the forfeit of the team’s scheduled contest at Reinhardt.

Dr. Olive added that all other Bluefield College head coaches were instructed that “similar incidents” by their players are prohibited.
