What’s wrong with higher ed? Republicans, Democrats disagree
American higher education is heading in the wrong direction. At least, that’s what 61% of the country thinks, according to a recent report from the Pew Research Center.
Conservatives are more pessimistic, with 73% of Republicans and Republican-leaning independents agreeing that “the higher education system in the U.S. today is generally going in the wrong direction.” But a thin majority (52%) of Democrats and Democratic-leaning independents are also in the “wrong direction” camp. Skepticism of colleges and universities transcends party lines.
