Water Valley tech school prepares to open rural startup hub

Base Camp Coding Academy in Water Valley has spent the last three years training rising high school seniors to enter the technology sector after graduation, and now the school and its partners will take over a former garment factory to create a hub of business startups and extended community college training.

Base Camp co-founder Kagan Coughlin said the first three years of operation were about discerning if area Mississippi youth could learn the necessary skills to become software developers in a timely fashion. If the cost was worthwhile enough to the private sector, it would hopefully encourage regional technology companies to help fund the program.
