One Provost’s Approach to Building a College for the Future
Shortly after settling into his new role at the University of South Florida, Provost and Executive Vice President Prasant Mohapatra started the process of developing a stand-alone college for AI and cybersecurity — now known as the Bellini College of Artificial Intelligence, Cybersecurity and Computing.
To find the best model for the college, Mohapatra assembled an interdisciplinary task force to ensure decisions were the result of a collaborative process. Ultimately, the task force recommended a hub-and-spoke academic structure. The belief was this would eliminate silos and underscore the interdisciplinary nature of AI and cybersecurity, resulting in university-wide collaboration.
In this case study, learn more about the college’s structure and governance, Mohapatra’s approach and lessons learned from the process.
