University of Akron moves forward with plan to split provost role

The University of Akron has moved forward on a plan it originally introduced at the end of 2017 to dissolve the role of senior vice president and provost and create two new leadership roles in its place.

The plan to create the roles of executive vice president/chief academic officer and executive vice president/chief administrative officer was first approved by the board in December 2017. But that plan was soon put on hold when, within a few months, Matthew J. Wilson stepped down as president and John C. Green was named interim president.
