UCF trustees voice support for President Whittaker in wake of subpoenas over misspent money

A majority of UCF trustees say they support embattled President Dale Whittaker serving out his four-year contract, despite the university leader facing a subpoena from a Florida House committee and an ongoing investigation into construction spending.

Whittaker has faced questions about Trevor Colbourn Hall, an academic building that was constructed using leftover operating dollars, a violation of state rules. In all, the University of Central Florida spent or planned to spend a total of $84.7 million in leftover operating funds between 2013 and 2018, an investigation found.
