The London School of Theology partners with Ellucian
The London School of Theology (LST), the largest interdenominational evangelical theological college in the United Kingdom (U.K.), has selected Ellucian Quercus to enable integration between departments, increase visibility of student records across the institution, and provide an improved experience for students as well as teaching and administrative staff.
Previously, LST had been using an on-premise relational database application to house student information. This homegrown student management system was not able to integrate with other technology solutions or handle the dynamic nature of student information across the institution, and required manual reporting for U.K. regulatory compliance. As the needs of the institution evolved, LST’s administration recognized that it was missing opportunities to progress and made the decision to modernize its existing platform by replacing it with an intuitive, scalable, cloud-based service.
“We needed a better, more modern IT framework that would give students and staff the ability to access anything they’d need in one place and we found that with Quercus,” said Adam Lock, CIO of London School of Theology. “By selecting Ellucian, who not only focuses on higher education, but also has extensive experience with U.K. institutions and our regulatory requirements, we were able to start implementing a new solution quickly and efficiently, without overburdening our staff.”
Delivered in a software-as-a-service model, Quercus eliminates the need for server space on campus, thus freeing IT staff from time intensive maintenance. By increasing data sharing between departments, teaching staff and administrators will have access to richer, more complete data and the ability to automate previously manual processes. Students will be able to access information most important to them through a single portal and a modern user interface—be it managing their finances, accessing their virtual learning environment, or other value-added tasks.
As higher education policy in the U.K. goes through a period of unprecedented change, institutions are faced with the challenge of navigating policy and maintaining regulatory compliance. With Quercus, LST will automate regulatory reporting to manage data collection, maintenance and dissemination to government bodies. Quercus is tightly aligned to U.K. higher education policy, providing partnership with and compliance to regulatory bodies.
“We are thrilled to partner with London School of Theology to modernize its legacy student record system,” said Darren Hunt, Managing Director, EMEA of Ellucian. “Quercus was designed specifically to support schools like LST and its cloud delivery will give the institution the ability to stay current with the latest regulations, industry advancements, and integration requirements.”
The London School of Theology (LST) is largest interdenominational evangelical theological college in Europe, whose graduates can be found in leadership roles throughout the Christian world and beyond. Based in Northwood within the London Borough of Hillingdon, LST boasts an extensive theological library containing around 50,000 volumes.
