State-by-state look at colleges requiring COVID-19 vaccines
These are the colleges and universities requiring COVID-19 vaccinations in some form for the start of the 2021-22 academic year. Some are mandating that faculty and students be vaccinated as well, while some are only requiring that students living on campus receive vaccines. Almost all of those listed below are accepting religious and medical exemptions.
(This list is updated as of 3 p.m. EST on June 24)
The latest: The Board of Trustees for Higher Education in Connecticut voted to mandate students in the Connecticut State College and University system be vaccinated for the fall.
The decision affects several state public four-year universities as well as some community colleges. Vaccines will not be required for those studying fully online or for faculty or staff. The CSCU system is allowing applications for both medical and “non-medical” exemptions.
Though Connecticut has done well with vaccinations overall compared with other states, still about 53% of those in the 16-24 age group have not been fully vaccinated. A little more than 56% has received at least one dose.
