These are the colleges and universities requiring COVID-19 vaccinations in some form for the start of the 2021-22 academic year. Some are mandating that faculty and students be vaccinated as well, while some are only requiring that students living on campus receive vaccines. Almost all of those listed below are accepting religious and medical exemptions.

(This list is updated as of 11 p.m. EST on May 10)

The latest: Students at both the State University of New York and the City University of New York will be required to be vaccinated upon their return to campus in the fall. Those mandates were not handed down by university leaders but by Gov. Andrew Cuomo.

“As far as I’m concerned, we all have one goal: get everybody vaccinated,” Cuomo said. “We have to start getting creative. “Let’s make a global statement: you cannot go back to school in September unless you have the vaccine.”

Two other private universities in the state climbed on as well, with Cazenovia University requiring both students and employees get vaccines and Union College also mandating students get the COVID-19 preventive doses.
