Starship Technologies expansion in collaboration with BGSU and City of Bowling Green Ohio
Bowling Green State University, BGSU Dining by Chartwells, and Starship Technologies have expanded the robot delivery service to now include parts of the city of Bowling Green. The expanded service is another way for the University and Starship to support those in the community affected by COVID-19 and the social distancing order. Robots began deliveries April 22.
“Because of our strong partnership with the city, the University is honored to now offer expanded robot delivery service as another option to residents during this unprecedented time,” said Michael Paulus, director, BGSU Dining.
As part of their first deliveries, the robots made special stops to the Bowling Green police and fire departments. They delivered Dunkin Donuts on behalf of the University as a ‘thank you’ for the work they do each and every day.
“We are appreciative and grateful to all of our first responders for their tireless work on ensuring our communities remains safe and healthy during the COVID-19 pandemic,” Paulus said.
On-campus eateries available for delivery off-campus include Dunkin Donuts, Panda Express, Market at Carillon Place and Carillon Place. The approved delivery expansion map can be found here.
BGSU became the first university in Ohio to offer autonomous delivery service to students in March 2020. Through a partnership with the University’s food-service provider – Chartwells Higher Education Dining Services – Starship has a fleet of 40 autonomous, on-demand robots available.
