Santa Clarita brush fire stopped at five acres, Master’s College was evacuated

A fire scorched about five acres of brush Wednesday in the Santa Clarita area, forcing the precautionary evacuation of a nearby college campus before crews got the upper hand.

The non-injury blaze broke out for unknown reasons about 1 p.m. near Second and Race streets, the county fire department reported.
