Robert Morris’ first endowed chair named for former ATI president

Robert Morris University on Saturday announced the creation of its first endowed professorship, in honor of the recently retired president and CEO of Allegheny Technologies Incorporated.

The announcement coincides with the Moon-based university’s commencement ceremony today. The Richard J. Harshman Professorship in Accounting, supported by a $1 million gift from the Downtown-based metals company, whose former CEO chairs the university’s Board of Trustees, will cover the salary, research and travel for a professor in the School of Business’s Department of Accounting and Taxation.
