Ore. higher ed official ‘deeply troubled’ by lavish severance given to departing Portland State president

The generous severance deal Portland State University granted its former president could come back to bite the college.

Ben Cannon, executive director of the influential Higher Education Coordinating Commission, on Friday expressed his unhappiness with the university’s Board of Trustees for agreeing to grant Rahmat Shoureshi a golden parachute worth more than $855,000.
