Hampshire reasserts independent streak after president quits

One of Hampshire College’s founders has returned to lead the institution following the resignation of President Miriam Nelson, who faced strong criticism for her handling of the college’s financial problems.

Trustees at the small, unorthodox liberal arts school on Friday named former Hampshire treasurer Kenneth Rosenthal interim president. They also voted to pursue a fundraising strategy to keep the college independent.
