Florida State prohibits parenting during remote work
A memo from Florida State University is highlighting a child care concern parents across the country are facing the longer the coronavirus pandemic continues.
The university posted “campus repopulation” guidance recently. In it, there is a section on remote work. It says the university put out a temporary exception to policy in March allowing employees to care for children at home while on the temporary remote work agreement. The memo says as of August 7, that will no longer be okay.
The memo goes on to say approval for temporary remote work may be rescinded at any time if an employee can’t perform duties from home, is not following the agreement guidelines, or the work no longer meets the needs of the department.
