Dartmouth College announces $500 million investment in decarbonization

In a message to the community, Dartmouth College President, Sian Leah Beilock announced the launch of the Dartmouth Climate Collaborative, a $500 million commitment to address climate change and sustainability on campus.

The plan calls for the largest sustainability investment in Dartmouth history. Over the next five years, campus decarbonization efforts will need to meet new targets for reducing carbon emissions on campus: 60% by 2030 and 100% by 2050.

“Our aging infrastructure — some of which is more than 100 years old — is in dire need of repair, and rather than sinking resources into an outdated system, we will take this opportunity to reduce our carbon footprint in a lasting way,” Beilock said.
