7 in 10 students would OK a vaccine requirement
Among the latest COVID challenges college and university leaders face is whether to require that students get the vaccine before returning to campus.
Leaders may be guided by the fact that a majority of students say they’re likely to get vaccinated as soon as possible, a College Pulse survey has found.
Roughly 7 in 10 students among 1,000 undergraduates survey believe colleges can require students to get vaccinated before returning to campus.
Students attending private universities were a bit more likely to support a campus vaccination requirement.
Students of color are more likely than white students to worry (43% vs. 31%) about the safety of the vaccines.
“My worry is potential long-term side effects we aren’t aware of yet due to the short output time,” a Bowling Green State University student said in the survey. “I’ll still be getting it though.”
Almost half (48%) of students now say they are very concerned about COVID’s impact on the American job market, compared to 55% who said so in October.
