The Department of Education announced today that incarcerated individuals will receive better access to college education programs. This will be done by extending Pell Grants to these individuals.
Earning a college degree comes with its own challenges, and, a recent study shows, students were not prepared to add a global pandemic to their course load.
"We are really the only option for students who are trying to create access to higher education," says Zaneta Encarnacion, chief of staff to the superintendent/president of the Southwestern Community College District.
