By the numbers: U. of Mich. athletes top state in economic impact

University of Michigan-Ann Arbor sports programs brought in $173,172 per athlete in revenue in 2016, meaning its athletes on average generated the most sports revenue of any school in Michigan that year, according to a Watchdog.org analysis of U.S. Department of Education data.

The university’s sports programs brought in a total of $162,955,051 in 2016.
